Isaac and John Lowthian both
lived here. The old barn is all that remains of their
homestead. Isaac was raising corn to feed his hogs in
Strawberry Valley in 1877. He butchered them, cured the
meat and packed it by mule to the army post in the Verde
Valley. He served as Justice of the Peace in Pine Creek
Precinct of Yavapai County, Arizona Territory in 1883.
The
John Lowthian family and their sons, Richard, Isaac and
Strauther arrived before 1880. Records indicate that
John's wife, Sarah, is buried in the Strawberry Cemetery.
