Marker 3 The Wingfield family moved to Strawberry in 1885. John helped in building the Old Strawberry School. His son, Frank, then nine years old, remembered the cutting, hauling and shaping of the big logs. Their eldest daughter married C.C. Callaway in 1888. Their eldest son Clinton was murdered at the Sutler's Store in Camp Verde in 1899. Twin sons were born to Sarah in 1890. One died in infancy and is buried in the Strawberry Cemetery (see MARKER #4). The family returned to the Verde area in 1895. Since this photo was taken, the old barn has been torn down.
