Hashknife Pony Express Re-enactment - From Holbrook to Scottsdale with a stop at Pine Post Office. Members of the Navajo County Sheriff’s Hashknife Posse are gearing up for their 60th annual Pony Express Ride from Holbrook to Scottsdale carrying the U.S. Mail. The posse riders will exchange the mailbags every mile, relaying the letters to the next rider waiting alongside the roadway. Bark Beetle Workshop - Join the Gila County Cooperative Extension Office  for a public workshop to learn about bark beetles and how they affect our trees. Forest health specialists from the Arizona Department of Forestry & Fire Management and the US Forest Service will present information on:

Run the first annual Pine Trail Run. Race 8.8 miles of Mogollon Rim Trail and help raise money for fuel reduction efforts. We invite you to participate in the first annual Pine Trail Run on May 5, 2018. This trail race follows a scenic forest route just below the edge of the iconic Mogollon Rim, near Pine, Arizona. The Rim Country, which includes the area from Pine-Strawberry through Payson to Christopher Creek, is within the largest stand of beautiful Ponderosa Pine trees in the world. Check out the route and the race details, then register and maybe earn rewards!

Mon, Jul 23 1 pm FRIENDS OF PINE LIBRARY hosting local author, Marsha Ward. Marsha’s topic will be entitled “Writing the Civil War – a Novel Approach” and will focus on her Civil War novel, “Gone for a Solider”.
Marsha writes authentic historical fiction set in 19th Century America, and contemporary romance. She was born in the sleepy little town of Phoenix, Arizona in a simpler time. With plenty of room to roam among the chickens and citrus trees, Marsha enjoyed playing with neighborhood chums, but always had her imaginary friend, cowboy Johnny Rigger Prescott, at her side. Now she makes her home in a forest in the mountains of Arizona. Books available for purchase.

Sat, Sep 15   Fire on the Rim is a challenging mountain bike race that takes place in the Tonto National Forest and the picturesque town of Pine, Arizona, to raise funds for wildfire prevention, trail advocacy, and new trail development. Incorporated in 1974 Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens (PGCSC) is a non-profit organization designated as the Area Agency on Aging for Region V, which encompasses Pinal and Gila counties. PGCSC's mission is to assist individuals in Region V achieve and maintain self-sufficiency with dignity and to offer choices of appropriate care by providing a wide range of community and home based services.
