About Stephen Monroe

Stephen Monroe has had an active interest in the landscape of central Arizona for many years.  He currently works for the U. S. Geological Survey in Flagstaff, Arizona with his principal research concentrated on the springs of the Grand Canyon.  The history, hydrology, and geomorphology of Fossil Creek has been the focus of his personal research during the past several years.  He contributed the report Geomorphology and Hydrology of Fossil Springs Damsite to Childs-Irving decommissioning discussions in 2000.  Work in progress at Fossil Creek includes landscape change analysis through repeat photography and study of channel morphology and associated riparian habitat.
