The roadway will be reduced to one lane beginning at 10 p.m. on Sunday, August 29 through noon on Thursday, September 2. The speed limit is reduced to 35 miles per hour and will be strictly enforced. STATE ROUTE 87 PAVING PINE TO MOGOLLON RIM

Final paving of the roadway complete - installation of guardrail

ADOT crews have completed paving of the roadway from milepost 267 to milepost 277 with rubberized asphalt. Though paving is complete, crews will continue improvements to the roadway the week of August 30. Installation of guardrail will begin on Monday, August 30 north of the town of Pine. During installation of guardrail, traffic will be held by a flagger to provide a safe work zone.

Flagging operations are critical to moving traffic safely and expeditiously through or around road construction work areas. Flaggers are provided at work sites to stop traffic intermittently as necessitated by work in progress or to maintain continuous traffic past a work site at reduced speeds to help protect the work crew. Installation of guardrail will not require the use of a pilot car and delays are expected to be less than 10 minutes.

Speed limits are reduced and a width restriction of 10 feet is in place. Construction is scheduled be completed by the end of September 2010.

Labor Day holiday schedule

Crews will not be working on Monday, September 6 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Though work will be halted for the day, please be aware that all posted and reduced speed limits apply and will be strictly enforced throughout the holiday weekend.

As always, drivers are reminded to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment availability and personnel issues. We try to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delays, may not always be known in advance.
